How to Apply
To apply for membership at Five Oaks, complete the application form and pay the $50 non-refundable application fee. The fee is required to be added to the list and is not credited toward your bond or dues when you join.
Waiting List
Once your application and payment are received, you’ll be added to our waiting list. The list is posted on our website and updated periodically, so you can monitor your position and gauge when you’ll be invited to join. The wait is typically about two years.
Receiving Your Invitation
In a typical winter, we are able to invite the top thirty waiting list applicants to join via email. When you receive an invitation, you’ll have two weeks to accept the offer and pay the $750 bond fee. First-year members pay both the bond fee and their first year’s dues upon accepting. Please respond within two weeks — offers not acknowledged within that window will be treated as a deferral.
Membership Types & Annual Dues
All new members initially hold a Family membership and must maintain it until a special membership becomes available. Special memberships are limited and may have their own waiting list.
- Family — $745
- Couple — $640
- Single — $595
- Senior Couple — $505 (both members must be over 65)
- Senior Single — $470 (must be over 65)
Ready to apply?
A $50 non-refundable application fee is required to secure your spot. This fee is not credited toward bond or dues fees.
Deferral Policy
We understand that timing doesn’t always work out. Should you need to defer your membership offer, here’s how it works:
- First deferral — keep your place. Your spot on the waitlist is preserved.
- Second deferral — move to the end of the list. You remain on the waitlist but restart at the bottom.
- Third deferral — removed from the list. Your application is closed and the fee is forfeited.
Deferrals are final once made for the season and cannot be changed. Please keep your contact information current so we can reach you when your offer is ready.
Individual & Couple Memberships
We offer a limited number of special memberships for individuals and couples. These are separate from our family membership waitlist, and wait times vary based on availability.
Special membership slots are not offered through the general waitlist. To be considered for one of these memberships, reach out to the Membership Committee at [email protected].
Guest Policy
Members must be present on the pool grounds with their guests at all times and are responsible for their guests’ conduct. Guest fees apply to non-swimming guests as well.
- $8 — Weekdays
- $10 — Weekends
- $5 — After 5:00 PM (weekdays and weekends)
- $2 — Children under 2 (at all times)
- $12 — Holidays: Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day (all day; no after-5:00 PM discount)
You may pay for guests at the front desk with cash or purchase guest passes online before your guests arrive.
Caregiver passes are available for $25 per week or $150 for the season.
Resigning Your Membership
We’re sorry to see members go, but we understand circumstances change. If you’d like to resign your Five Oaks membership, here’s what you need to know.
Notice of resignation must be received by February 15 to avoid penalty.
How to resign
You may submit your notice of resignation by either email or signed letter.
By Email
Send an email to [email protected] by February 15. Be sure to include:
- The bondholder’s first and last name
- Your bond number
By Mail
Send a signed letter postmarked by February 15th to:
Five Oaks Swimming Pool
P.O. Box 9316
Baltimore, MD 21228
Attn: Treasurer and Membership Chair
Refund of your bond
Once your resignation is received, the current bond value of $750 will be refunded to the names and address listed on the bond. Refunds depend on new members joining to replace your bond, so resigning earlier in the season typically means a faster refund. Current-year dues are not refunded.
If you miss the February 15 deadline
Resignations received after February 15 are subject to a forfeiture of up to 50% of the bond value, plus any lost dues revenue until your membership is filled. The balance of the bond is refunded within 60 days of replacement.
A few other things to know
- Once submitted, a notice of resignation cannot be withdrawn.
- Bonds are not transferable to other individuals or families.
- Full details are available in Article VI of our by-laws.
