Swim Lessons

Five Oaks offers safe, fun, and effective daily group swim lessons in three one-week sessions throughout the summer. Each session is $35 per swimmer, due upon signup, and includes classes in four levels (described below) based on your swimmer’s experience and comfort in the water. If you’re not sure which level is quite right, don’t worry! Teachers will move swimmers between groups on the first day of lessons as needed. Please visit the pool calendar to view session dates and times. Reserve your spot at the front desk anytime the pool is open — don’t wait, as space is limited!

Swim Lesson Levels

Acorns

For children who do not put their faces in the water yet

  • Aided water entry/exit
  • 10 consecutive bobs
  • Floating – front & back with assistance
  • Alligator glide with kick, assisted
  • Introduction to safety
  • Blowing bubbles
  • Introduction to freestyle arms
  • Kicking assisted with flotation device

Twigs

For children who put their faces in the water

  • Independent water entry/exit
  • Blowing bubbles
  • 10 consecutive bobs
  • Retrieve object from bottom of pool
  • Independent flutter kick, 10 ft.
  • Floating front & back, 10 secs unassisted
  • Alligator glide with kick and face in, 10 ft. unassisted
  • Beginner stroke, 10 ft in lap
  • Introduction to freestyle

Branches

For children who can swim and be in water over their head

  • Flutter kick (front & back), 25 yds
  • 15 consecutive bobs
  • Treading water, 20 secs
  • Introduction to lateral breathing
  • Freestyle with lateral breathing, 25 yds
  • Backstroke, 25 yds
  • Introduction to breaststroke pull and kick
  • Kneeling dive
  • Safety

Saplings

For experienced swimmers building stroke technique and endurance

  • Introduction to dolphin kick
  • Introduction to butterfly
  • Breaststroke, 25 yds
  • Treading water, 45 secs
  • Freestyle, 50 yds
  • Backstroke, 50 yds
  • Surface diving
  • Standing diving
  • Safety
